Don’t insist on memorizing things you don’t have a clue what they refer to, especially if you're trying to learn a song phonetically.
Enjoy the songs first!
Do some music appreciation: consider the different genres and subgenres, the songs' texture (melody, harmony, rhythm combination).
There is a reason for music to be a universal language.

Teaching Spanish (behind the scenes)
I was preparing the class "Fútbol, Pasión de Multitudes" as the World Cup season seems to have started already and, to my surprise, after finding the Official song in its bilingual version (English and Spanish) I realized it had lost all its essence, since there is no mentioning to, for instance, famine, poverty, wars-i.e. reality in the poorest regions of Africa- which are part of K'naan's original message. So sad...
All the same, here I share the bilingual version of Waving flag and links to both versions lyrics.

Spanish Expressions
¡Hola a todos!
Here are two colloquial daily expressions:
- ¿Qué talco? (for "¿qué tal?"-> how are you?/how's it going?)
Talco is the Spanish word for "talcum powder"
- ¿Qué tul? (also for "¿qué tal?"-> how are you?/how's it going?)
Tul is the Spanish word for "tulle"

Learning from mistakes
¡Hola a todos! (hello everyone!)
I will take the chance to talk about LEARNING FROM MISTAKES.
There is a tendency in youngters and grown ups in my country - Argentina- to be a bit afraid of talking, trying, taking risks, participating when in language classes, probably because of a long tradition of being either "punished" or negatively criticized for making mistakes.
But the bottom line is that if learners don't try, take risks, experiment, work the language out, practice, produce in class first and out of class next, it will probably take them longer and it will be harder for them to suceed in learning.
So, once again, the piece of advice, for any language course attendee: do not worry about making mistakes, do worry about not learning from them
¡Éxitos! (Wish you success!)
Cariños (kind regards)
Edith

Happy Mother's Day!
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new. ~Rajneesh
A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie. ~Tenneva Jordan
When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child. ~Sophia Loren, Women and Beauty
Mother love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible. ~Marion C. Garretty, quoted in A Little Spoonful of Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul
