Brief description of levels and courses

GENERAL SPANISH
COURSE: “COMUNICÁNDONOS”


Six (6) levels

1. Elementary levels
These are two levels that aim at the Basic Use of the language:
A1 (Beginners) and A2 (Elementary)
The most outstanding contents and functions are: Basic communicative situations, exchanging personal info; verb to be-Ser/Estar; present of indicative; past -preterito perfecto, future; everyday situations; expression of needs, likes, preferences; asking for information at specific locations; describing objects and places.

2. Intermediate levels
These are two levels that aim at the Independent Use of the language:
B1 (Intermediate I) y B2 (Intermediate II)
The most outstanding contents and functions are: Indicative tenses and Subjective; communication is more connected to culture, history, society, literature, etc.; more complex everyday situations; asking and giving personal opinions; suggesting; complaining, asking for clarification; giving detailed instructions of procedures; giving details; stating one’s point of view; more cohesion, fluency and spontaneity

3. Advanced levels
These are two levels that aim at the Proficient Use:
C1 (Advanced) y C2 (Proficiency):
The most outstanding contents and functions are: More complexity and abstraction; social, academic and professional contexts; increased lexis; more accuracy; subtle differences of meaning; focus on accent-free/ more authentic pronunciation; coherence and cohesion in discourse; idiomatic expressions

All levels are divided into modules and modules into eight (8) lessons each.
The number of modules for each level depends on students’ variables (previous knowledge of Spanish or any Romance language, learning pace, extra tutor- oriented and independent practice, self-confidence, degree of interaction with peers and native speakers, exposure to the language, etc) generally varying from 4-7 modules.
This means that modules are tailored-made to students’ needs and characteristics.
All modules include a “Test your Spanish” instance at the end where learners interact with other native speakers in real or simulated situations that imply concrete use of what they have learnt in an integrated, contextualized, freer but purposeful way.

SURVIVAL SPANISH
Course where basic contents and functions are developed in 16-18 lessons where the typical situations travelers faced are presented and practiced.
